Students in our Year 5 and 6 Robotics Program have been putting their coding and engineering skills into action, thanks to the support of three talented parent volunteers.
Marilyn, Jason and Lawrence generously share their computer engineering knowledge each week, guiding students as they explore the fundamentals of robotics, coding and problem solving.
Recently, our robotics teams took part in Robotica at Peregian Springs State School in a competition designed to challenge students to apply their skills through a range of robotics challenges. Six teams represented Sunshine Beach State School, working together to design, test and improve their robots while demonstrating creativity, persistence and teamwork.
Throughout the competition, students competed in five challenges against schools from across the region. Each team showed impressive problem-solving skills and embraced the challenges they were given.
Congratulations to Team 4, who placed first in the Navigate the Maze challenge, where students guided their robot along a raised wooden pathway. Team 6 achieved second place in the Canyon Cross challenge, requiring their robot to successfully cross a large gap without falling. Team 1 was also recognised for demonstrating the Robotica values throughout the competition.
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting and our robotics teams are already looking forward to their next challenge.
