It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school community at Sunshine Beach.

Our school was opened in 1982 and we have a proud and outstanding reputation in the community for providing a high-quality education for all learners. We proudly offer all learners, including our international students, a world class education.

The school currently has a student population of 710 learners from Prep to Year 6. The eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum are delivered, with our talented staff supporting students to achieve high academic results. Our most recent 2024 school results highlight academic outcomes with Level of Achievement data and NAPLAN scores which surpass regional, state and national targets. Whilst we are extremely proud of these results, we are most proud of our school opinion survey data which confirms that students, parents and staff agree that Sunshine Beach is a ‘good school’ and ‘a Good Place to Be’ every day.

Our focus is to develop the whole child – intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, culturally and creatively to ensure that each learner is provided with the best opportunity to reach their full potential. We have high expectations of our staff and learners to ensure that everyone performs to the very best of their ability.

We focus on developing learners who are:
  • competent and skilled learners
  • life-long learners
  • effective communicators
  • creative, critical thinkers
  • happy, confident and self-managed individuals
  • socially responsible citizens
  • environmentally responsible citizens
Our school was re- accredited as a Glasser Quality School in October 2022. As a Glasser Quality School we have a joyful, caring, fun and supportive learning culture. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the entire school community is at the heart of all that we do. Our staff are trained in our philosophical base of Choice Theory, Reality Therapy and Lead Management which ensures that our school is a 'Good Place to Be' for everyone.

Sunshine Beach State School is committed to environmental education and is located on a unique natural parcel of land adjacent to Noosa National Park. A permaculture garden is a unique feature of our school. All students have opportunities to learn about sustainability, food production, environmental and ecological practices. The garden serves as a living classroom where hands-on learning occurs, integrating environmental education into the curriculum to support our students’ understanding of the importance of balance and biodiversity.

I look forward to making connections and working in partnership with our families and our local community to support each learner to achieve their educational goals.

Lisa Cutter (Acting Principal)
