Elective daily activities

We offer a daily selection of elective co-curricular activities  during break times and before/after school. Download our current extra curricular timetable (319KB) for the complete list.

Some of the activities that we currently offer are:

Sunshine Singers

Sunshine Singers, our school choir, welcomes students in Years 1-6. Commitment is key, with weekly rehearsals preparing us for upcoming performances. Join us for engaging rehearsals, where students learn diverse songs and participate in enjoyable warm-up activities. Catch our choir in action at significant events like the school ANZAC Ceremony, Sunshine Spectacular, and Year 6 Graduation.

Sunshine's got Talent

Our weekly talent show where children who have prepared can sing a song, performer a dance, tell a joke, do a magic trick or preform a short play.  There are opportunities for audience involvement.

Dance

The Senior Dance Club is open to students in Years 4, 5, or 6, and meets weekly. Geared towards fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere, the club invites participants to engage in dance sessions with a focus on creating short routines. Popular songs, with child-friendly versions, are carefully selected for these sessions, offering learners an opportunity to express themselves through movement in a fun and team-oriented environment. Learners may also have the chance to perform at various school events, contributing to the vibrant and dynamic school community.

Sports practice

Term 1 - Representative School Sport Trials
Term 2 - students in year 4, 5 and 6 are able to join in extra sessions for the development of high jump, long jump and shot skills. These sessions are enhancement of the skills taught in specialist HPE lessons.
Term 3 - Representative School Sport Practice
Term 4 - Interhouse Sports

Robotics

Explores, creates and shares with WeDos (Lego kits). Students learn to creatively code. Offered to various year levels throughout the year.

STEM

Learners choose a card to help them with their project, they then build their project using the materials located in one of the STEM bins. Then they need to build the same project using a different STEM bin with other materials. They consider which materials are best for different projects. An option is available to make a blueprint of their design before building and then a reflection tool to assess the materials used. Learners do not need to commit to this activity. They are free to come and build whenever they like!

Art/games

A space is available in the library for students to do colouring-in or play games. All students are welcome to be involved in these activities as it provides an opportunity for new friendships to be fostered across multiple year levels. This group offers an alternative to outdoor activities for students during the break.
