Our Year 5 team competed at the end of last term in the Readers’ Cup Competition at Immanuel Lutheran College. Organised by the QLD Branch of the Children’s Book Council, this statewide event brought together teams from 30 schools along the coast. Each team read five designated books and participated in rounds of quiz questions, creating an intense and exciting atmosphere.
The competition was fierce, with points closely contested among public, private, and independent schools. Despite the strong competition, our team—Hannah M, Matilda F, Chalcot C, Adele E, and Xander B—showed remarkable teamwork and dedication. Their hard work paid off as they navigated challenging questions and demonstrated their in-depth knowledge of the books.
Participating in the Readers’ Cup was a fantastic opportunity for our students to deepen their love for reading and collaborate with peers who share their passion for books. This event not only enhanced their literary skills but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and enthusiasm for learning.
We are immensely proud of our team for their outstanding performance and dedication. They have set a wonderful example for their peers and highlighted the importance of teamwork and a love for reading in our school community.
