Our permaculture garden has proudly been awarded the prestigious Snail of Approval by Noosa Slow Food for our commitment to sustainability and environmental education. This award celebrates establishments that use seasonal ingredients, support local producers and practice environmentally friendly habits.
Our school’s permaculture garden is a vibrant outdoor classroom where students learn about sustainable living. Guided by passionate educators Di Seels and Glossy Bob Carey, students gain hands-on experience and develop a deep respect for nature.
Beyond the garden, our school also runs a composting program led by teacher Nico Beighton and a pocket forest program led by parent Gary Swanepoel. These practical learning experiences teach students the impact of their actions in preserving the planet for future generations.
Earning the Snail of Approval places Sunshine Beach State School among a select group recognized for promoting sustainable food practices and environmental stewardship, inspiring a culture of conscious consumption and responsible living in our community.
