Music education is an integral part of the Australian National Curriculum and is a core learning area experienced by all students from preschool to grade seven.
At our school we believe that every child can succeed in music. A positive and supportive environment is provided to encourage risk taking and active learning. The classroom music program uses a cumulative, sequential and developmental approach to the teaching and learning of musical skills and concepts. Students participate in a range of activities including reading, writing, creating, presenting and responding to music through the use of body movement, vocal and instrumental work.
Extra curricular activities are offered throughout the year based upon the needs of our students.
Current activities include:
School Choir: Year 3-6 weekly
Junior Singing Group: Year 1-2 weekly
Instrumental Programs are offered for string and band instruments where students have the opportunity to extend their musical skills in private and group lessons.
Current timetables include:
String Ensemble: Year 3-6 weekly
Band Ensemble: Year 4-6 weekly
Private/Group Lessons: Year 3-6
We hope that students who are a part of the Music community here at Sunshine Beach become empowered to express themselves and use these skills in all other learning areas and everyday life.
