Science Week 2019

Students from all year levels enjoyed spending time in the Off This Planet planetarium this week to celebrate Science Week 2019. They were engaged in discussions about space exploration, and the significance of this year being our 50 year anniversary of the first people to explore the moon. Many were amazed to discover how the lack of gravity affects everyday life in space. The importance of the International Space station to all human activity and the development astronauts and researchers have made to our life on Earth was also discussed.

Once inside the planetarium students looked at the difference between the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere and the difference in perspective constellations and our star system. The incursion proved to be a successful culmination to the many activities within classrooms throughout the week.
