Recently, with families present, a special assembly was held to induct and congratulate our 2019 student leaders. Special guests were local leaders from the community -members who work in professions dedicated to making our community a better and safer place for us to live in. School Leaders and Student Councillors were proud to receive their badges and certificates from guests representing the special services of Queensland Ambulance, Queensland Parks and Wildlife, Queensland Fire and Emergency, the Surf Lifesaving Association and the Queensland Police Service. Following the presentation, students made their leadership pledge to their peers, staff and guests.

School Principal, Ms Jenny Easey gave an inspirational speech about David Attenborough, a natural historian and leader in his field. She challenged the student leaders to follow the role model of David Attenborough by believing that anything is possible, to not limit your personal expectations and to challenge yourself and embrace opportunities, unleashing imagination and believing in yourself.

Deputy Principal Tracy Blandford urged the students to understand the significance of their new roles. ‘Leaders have the opportunity to motivate and influence others. We all have the capacity to be a leader just by making good decisions (we call those decisions, good choices). Congratulations to all our student leaders.’

Students and staff are looking forward to working with the new School Leaders, House Leaders, Environmental Leaders, Cultural Leaders and Student Council Representatives in helping Sunshine Beach State School to be a ‘Good Place to Be.’
