Our school is alive with the sound of music...

Each week, students in Years 1-2 are learning about a different instrument. They are focussing on the types of sounds they make, their history, what they’re made from, which family of instruments they belong in, and the different techniques used to play them. Students have also been learning songs to sing in unison and in cannons, and exploring the difference between beat and rhythm.

Recently, Year 3 and 4 students had the opportunity to make music using objects from around the classroom. Learners plucked rubber bands, wobbled laminated cards, shook cups filled with fake coins, and drummed rulers on the floor. It was wonderful to see so much creativity.

Senior students are learning how to interpret written music. They are realising that it is a complicated language with many different symbols and Latin/Italian words.
