Kookaburras win at Snr Athletics Carnival!

15/05/2019
Kookaburras took the shield at our recent annual Senior Sports Day!

We recognise the achievements of our athletics age champions with seven students presented with age champion medallions. Congratulations to Louis, Aalia, Hunter, Charli, Kruze, Amelie and Charlize who proudly received their medals after competing in events, which included track events and high jump, long jump and shot put.

Our athletics carnivals are a culmination of a program that involves students taking part in HPE lessons which focus on athletics events. Students strive to beat their personal bests after practising skills, not only during HPE classes, but giving up their lunch breaks to enhance their efforts.

Following on from school carnivals many students will represent their school at the District Primary Schools Representative Carnival at Girraween Sports complex. The students selected to represent Sunshine Beach have the expertise of the school’s teacher aide and Noosa Little Athletics Coach Val Hooper on hand for some further training sessions.

In addition to providing an opportunity for students to excel, school athletics carnivals are an opportunity for schools to highlight the importance of physical activity and in particular the correlation between physical activity and academic achievement.
